The protracted tension and misunderstanding between the two (2) royal gates of Dagbon - Abudus and Andanis - is likely to resurrect today, February 17, as the two gates have given the indication of using the installation of a new Gusheigu Regent to revive hostilities.
Sources close to this paper indicated that the chiefs and people of Gusheigu have decided to install their Regent to replace the late Gushiena, Bawa Yakubu, also a former Inspector General of Police (IGP), who joined his ancestors about a year ago.

As a result, our sources have it that the Andanis, after a meeting on Wednesday February 15 in Tamale, have allegedly come out to declare that the Abudus ought to freeze the installation ceremony until the late Overlord of Dagbon Ya Na Yakubu Andani is buried.

The Abudus, who would not take the alleged decision by the Andanis lying down, also held their meeting on Thursday at Aboabo in Tamale, where one man, believed by a section of the Abudus to be an Andani, fired gunshots and wounded two (2) persons.

This brought tension and fear among residents in Tamale who started running for their precious lives.

Rumours have it that the installation of the new regent today would set the stage for the two feuding gates to cause mayhem and destruction.

Meanwhile, some chiefs within the Gusheigu Traditional Area, who are poised to ignore the new Regent, have advised all persons who intend to attend the installation ceremony to call off any visit to the area.

In a released statement, they have warned that any person, who dared visit the area from February 15, would be considered a troublemaker, wanting to breach the prevailing peace and would be regarded therefore as an unwanted guest of the Gusheigu people.

All attempts to reach the Northern Regional Minister, Boniface Abubakar Siddique proved futile as he was said to be locked up in a meeting.
