Women in the Upper West Region are hoping for better socio-political and economic empowerment under Positive Change Chapter Two of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government.

These expectations were contained in congratulatory message women of the Region sent to President John Agyekum Kufuor on his recent re-election and inauguration for a second term of four years.

The message signed on behalf of the women by 14 Women Leaders in the Region including Mrs Celestine Bayor, a Retired Director of the Department of Community Development, said: "We are hopeful that women in the Upper West Region and Ghana at large will experience better socio-political and economic empowerment in your Government of Positive Change Chapter Two following Chapter One."

The women also expressed their gratitude to the President for nominating Mr Ambrose Dery, a son of the Region, as Regional Minister - Designate for Upper West Region, adding: "It is our prayer that Almighty God will continuously protect and direct you throughout the next four years."
