If there is any disc jockey who had succeeded in relieving the people of Tamale some of their everyday stress, it is no other person but the very affable and humorous Abdallah Yamusah, affectionately called DJ Yamo.
The mere sound of his laid back voice and accent make listeners laugh away their worries. And when he settles down to business,it’s real business.

What makes him stand tall among his equals are the interesting jokes (“tolies”) he dishes out from his rich repertoire of humour.

Arguably, the most popular radio presenter in the metropolis,Yamo who currently works with Justice FM received his radio tutelage from GBC Savanna Radio in Tamale in 2002.

Since then, there has not been turning back for the dynamic Higher National Diploma marketing graduate from the Tamale Polytechnic.

Apart from reading news in English, almost all the other programmes Yamo handles are in Dagbani. The mid-morning drive a.k.a. Busy Time on Justice is the most popular programme handled by Yamo.

It begins at 10am to 12 noon from Mondays to Fridays.
The programme is a blend of Dagbani, Hausa and Twi, interspersed with a mixture of danceable gospel, higlife and Dagbani tunes.

According to Yamo,“the tolies come naturally when I am on air, and indeed the satisfaction I gain from my programmes is the fact that I am able to make people laugh off their worries and ‘wahalas.’”

The 25-year-old presenter began his education at the Nasiriya Arabic School and continued to the Nuriya JSS all in Tamale.Yamo later gained admission to Kumbungu Secondary from where he proceeded to the Tamale Polytechnic to read marketing.

He expresses his appreciation to his aunt, Madam Andaratu Osman,at GCB in Tamale who,he said, introduced him to the management of Radio Savanna where it all started.

Yamo is also grateful to the management and his colleagues at Justice FM and his numerous admirers for their support and encouragement over the years.

“I am currently the most eligible bachelor in town and I challenge any pretty and good natured girl to dare win my heart and she would be the most happiest lady in life because she would never know sorrow,”he stated.
