Alhaji Muniru takes over as Northern Regional Minister

Alhaji Mohammed Limuna Muniru, the new Northern Regional Minister, reshuffled from the Upper East Region has warned people of the region to eschew lies and help with useful suggestions for the development of the area.

He said he was not in politics to lie but to work with principles, which included truthfulness and honesty and warned that anyone who came to him with lies to cause disaffection for the opponent would not be tolerated saying, Lets expose the lies and move forward.


Alhaji Muniru gave the warning on Wednesday when he officially took over from Mr Bede Ziedeng as the Northern Regional Minister who had also been reshuffled to the Upper West Region.

Alhaji Muniru told the huge crowd that had assembled to welcome him, to eschew lies and be truthful to propel the development drive of the area to create jobs and improve the standard of living of the people.

He said lies in the past had drawn back the development of the region noting that it was inimical to the positive agenda he had nursed adding that, I am very vibrant and time conscious .let us form a formidable team to move the region forward.

Mr Bede Ziedeng the outgoing minister catalogued some of the achievements his administration had chalked in the past one year and mentioned education, health and roads constructions as areas that received positive investments.

He said the region would be benefiting from 15 community senior high schools as part of the first batch of 50 schools being constructed nationwide and that education was critical to the development of the region.

Mr Ziedeng commended various stakeholders in the region who played various roles during his term of office and expressed worry about the recent breach of peace in the area and that calm had since returned after Bimbilla and Tamale metropolis riots.

Alhaji Muniru had earlier received a rousing welcome to the Northern Region by enthusiastic National Democratic Congress party members, friends and family members as he touches down at the Tamale Airport.

Many of the youths who welcomed him, displayed various NDC paraphernalia, while displaying with their motorbikes and others followed slowing with their vehicles creating traffic jam as he was ushered into the region.

Alhaji Muniru is a native of Damongo in the West Gonja District of the Northern Region and expected to make a mark in the development of the region.
