Tamale Hospital
Healthcare delivery in the northern sector is set to see improvement as President Mahama commissions the first phase of the Tamale Teaching Hospital project.

The 40 million Ghana cedis facility comprises accident and emergency center, CCT scan center, maternity ward and a 400-bed accommodation. The president said the aim is to provide every region with one modern specialist hospital.

He charged workers of the hospital to manage the new equipment with care.

"We have allocated significant resources to improve the state of this hospital, I wish to and urge caution all the staff here to make a new pledge for excellence.

"Every single staff here must reaffirm their faith in the success of this hospital. Please value this hospital, work hard for it and treat it as your own property," he counselled.

He also thanked the Dutch government for the financial support it gave for the project.

It is expected that phase 2 of the project will turn the Tamale Teaching hospital into a centre of excellence.

MultiTV's Gifty Andoh Appiah who was at the commissioning ceremony said the residents are thoroughly grateful to government for the project.

Some of them have however expressed concern about reported cases of stealing of hospital equipment and medicines, and called on government to address that.
