Justice Godwin Akwesi-Kumah, Supervising High Court Judge at the weekend commissioned an ultra modern court building at Bawku to facilitate the dispensation of justice in the area.

The edifice, which was jointly constructed by the Bawku Municipal Assembly and the Judicial Service is expected to host and discharge legal cases for the development of the people in the area.

Justice Akwesi-Kumah commissioned the facility on behalf of the Chief Justice Mrs. Georgina Wood and charged the people to make good use of the building to achieve its intended purpose.

He noted that good governance was dependant on the dispensation of justice because justice was required in every human endeavour.

He explained that when justice was administered properly, people would respect the laws of the land and that would speed up the development of the country.

Justice Akwesi-Kumah stressed the need for the people to be law abiding since it was the surest way to foster peace in the area for their wellbeing.

He commended the Bawku Traditional Council and stakeholders, including the Security Agencies for supporting the judicial service in the dispensation of justice in the area and indicated that it had helped to maintain law and order in achieving the relative peace they enjoy.

Mr. Afoko Amoak, President of the Upper East Regional Bar Association called on the judicial service to provide the necessary logistics to discharge their lawful duties.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Bawku, Mr Abduliah Musah called on the people to be law abiding and use the court to resolve their concerns and not resort to violence.

He called for adequate security for personnel and their dependants working in the judicial service since the nature of their work was risky.
