The Northern Regional Secretariat of the National Road Safety Commission has asked chiefs and opinion leaders in the Tamale metropolis to stay away from its operations.

The NRSC has served notice that it will downplay the interference of traditional authorities who are found of pleading on behalf of notorious motorists.

Mr. Alex Aryeetar, the Northern Regional Director for the National Road Safety Commission said nobody would be left off the hook when caught flouting traffic regulations.

He said the days reckless motorists were arrested in the Tamale metropolis and allowed to go due to the intervention of chiefs and opinion leaders were over.

Mr. Alex Aryeetar urged particularly motorcycle riders to wear crush helmets for their own safety.

As part of its programme to ensure sanity on the Tamale roads, the National Road Safety Commission has embarked on an intensive operation to arrest unlicensed motorists.
