The Municipal Chief Executive for the Yendi municipal Assembly, Issah Zakaria says the confidence of his party (National Democratic Congress) to achieve victory in both the Presidential and parliamentary slot in the December polls is never a facade.
“Wherever we go on our campaign trails we are able to show electorates the massive work done over the years in office” he stated confidently.
Speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com the MCE said the 8 years of the NPP administration is incomparable to the 4yrs of the NDC government touting the innumerable infrastructure gains and the quality development which spans from education, health, Agric as well as other relevant sectors of the economy.
According to him, the people, especially residents of his area, are so far better of under the NDC government than in the 8 years administration of the NPP.
He indicated that under the NDC government the number of schools in the district benefiting from the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has leapfrogged from 2 schools to 46 schools.
He also recounted the good number of Community Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) centre established in the deprived areas, the rehabilitation of schools and the elimination of schools under trees to improve the standard of education in the area.
The National Patriotic Party (NPP) had for three successive times in the election calendar from 1996, 2000, 2004 won the Yendi seat in the area, but the ‘political pendulum’ only swung to the NDC party in the last elections held.
However, the MCE is again sure of the NDC retaining the seat because of the commitment shown by the NDC government to improve the wellbeing of ordinary Ghanaians under the implementation of the ‘Better Ghana” agenda.
