Police on alert to maintain calmness

The Northern Regional Security Council and the Police in Tamale are still on high alert to keep in check the subsided chaotic situation and also maintain peace and calmness in Tamale metropolis.

DCOP George Tuffour, Commander of the Northern Regional Police Command has assured that, his men are very tight and ready to deal with anyone who would disturb the peace which has currently returned to the area.

He however revealed that, they are in touch with other security services to ensure that, the region would not record any subsequent violence.

This follows a dispute between two religious sects which ended into some fierce clashes, leaving some residents injured and some properties vandalized in Tamale.

The Tijaniya and the Al-Sunnah were reported to have engaged in violent disagreement over various interpretations in the Qur’an.

But the Police together with other security apparatus swiftly moved to the scene and prevented what could have turned the whole of Tamale into a bloody clash.
