At least 4 already existing dams in the Saboba district in the Northern region are being reconstructed under ‘food for work’ programme being rolled out to boost agriculture production in the farming communities.
This is a partnership programme undertaken in the district by the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Saboba District Assembly to ostensibly reactivate and enhance the quality of the four dams so as to guarantee the efficiency of the supply of water for resident farmers.
Interacting with Ghanadistricts.com on the project, Mr. Ali Adolf G. John, District Chief Executive for the area, said works on two of the four dams have already been completed whiles serious works are currently ongoing to put a finishing touches on the other two left.
The completed ones include Kpegu and Nategu dams. Rehabilitation works on Dimon and Saboba dams are still in progress in the district.
The programme is pursued to boost irrigational facilities at the district for the purpose of sustaining and improving agric related activities.
