The Assembly Member for Kumbo Electoral area in the West Gonja District is calling on the government to improve the quality of education in the electoral area by replacing schools under trees with better structures.

In an interview with, Helen Mbemah Akuri, the assembly woman for Kumbo electoral area disclosed that the current situation is one of the area’s biggest challenges as unpredictable weather conditions distract the pupils from learning.

She noted that, lack of educational facilities in the area has swayed most children off the course of learning, and as a result ended most school going children on farm lands.

She also appealed to the assembly to support the area with the construction of roads as the poor state of the road has reduced the market value of most of the farm produce of residents.

Hon. Helen Mbemah Akuri, noted that transportion of perishable farm produce to nearby market centre has been difficult and has resulted in middle men buying the farm produce at a very cheap price leaving the peasant farmer with nothing.

Helen Mbemah Akuri, also expressed her gratitude to the AROCHA, a non-governmental organization for collaborating with the Mole National Park in conserving the park.

She also added that AROCHA has also supported farmers of Kumbo electoral area with beehives, donkey carts, corn, and fertilizers. Again, it has also helped with the mango plantation in the area and hopes that more organizations would follow the initiatives of AROCHA to helped addressed some challenges of the district.
