Residents of Victory Cinema Electoral Area in the Tamale Metropolise are planning on building a ward facility for a Shakinah clinic, a private healty facility at Wamale to augment the existing facilities at the clinic.

Dr Gushigu who heads the Shakinah clinic receives assistance from an international organization that allows him to offer free health care to members of surrounding communities, but his benevolence is visibly limited as he lacks adequate space to accommodate the huge number of patients who visit his hospital.

In an interview the Assemblyman for Victory Cinema Electoral Area, Mohammed Kamil Abukari stated that to avoid pressure on the hospital as well as support the doctor’s voluntary work other surrounding communities have already built lodging facility at the clinic to house their people whenever they visit the health centre for health care.

Hon. Mohammed Abukari noted that residents of his area have decided to fund the ward project to enable them get a place to be treated when they visit the facility.

He noted that apart from the free medication that the clinic offers it also sends people around to educate residents on health matters which he believes is improving the sanitation problems in the area.
