Twelve Fulani nomads have been confirmed dead in the shooting incident in Zamashegu, a farming community in the Gushegu district of the Northern region. Eight people have also been seriously injured while three people who are in critical condition have been referred to the Tamale General Hospital.

This followed what appeared to be an alleged attack on the Fulanis in their households by assailants suspected to be rival Konkombas.

It is not clear what necessitated that deadly attack though the Gushegu District Chief Executive, Alhaji Fuseini Alhassan, confirmed the calamity to Citi News.

“It is actually true, but it is not a clash but an attack on the Fulanis by unknown assailants suspected to be Konkombas where they have their houses burnt down,” Alhaji Alhassan said.

“Several of them have been wounded but I can assure you there is a combined team of military and police personnel on the ground,” he added.
