Mr. Gilbert Iddi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), on Thursday said SADA was poised to bring the needed development to the three Northern Regions.

Key issues that the Authority would address would include food security, water and sanitation, environment and good governance.

The CEO said one area that SADA intended to tackle with keen interest was to support the capacity building of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) to improve market-led out growers’ activities in the three Northern Regions to ensure sustainable food production.

Mr Iddi was giving a situational report to Council of State members in Bolgatanga during a two day visit to the Region.

In doing this, he indicated, there was the need to re-orient farmers to understand farming beyond the mere production to seeing it as a sustainable business venture.

He said through public and private partnership, SADA would carry out various capacity building training for farmers, especially assisting them to develop business plans to monitor the development of their farming activities.

The SADA boss observed that due to poverty in the area and high cost of cement, farmers could not construct houses that can withstand the vagrants of the weather especially, adding, when the heavy rains come houses collapse during floods.

Mr Iddi said SADA would promote hydro formed molding machines for blocks that required low content of cement to make the construction of houses affordable.

According to him, this would support sustainable housing projects SADA intend to roll out soon saying, these would be established and owned by communities to help in their housing needs as well create jobs for the youths in the three regions.
