Tamale by night
Ghana’s leading waste management and cleaning company Zoomlion has adjudged Tamale the Northern Regional Capital the cleanest city in the country for the year 2010.
At a colorful durbar christened “Community Based Sanitation Durbar” held in Tamale the Public Relation Officer (PRO) for the company Oscar Provencal commended the residents for their spirit of cleanliness that has earned the metropolis that enviable position.
He said their attitude will accounts for the eradicating malaria, cholera and diarrhea in the Metropolis, and therefore tasked all parents to educate their children on the importance of personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness.
He however cautioned that if personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness are not vigorously perused filth will engulf the city with its negative repercussions.
The PRO was of the view that if the residents play an effective watchdog role, the city will continue to annex that enviable position that all should emulate.
The Chief of Tamale, Naa Dakpema Mahamadu Dawuni Alhassan, called on residents to adopt best environmental practices that will promote good health among the citizenry and uplift the image of the Metropolis.
He lauded Zoomlion Ghana’s effort in the areas of job creation and environmental cleanliness and entreated all stakeholders to collaborate effectively with Zoomlion Ghana to manage the area’s waste.
