Pregnancy
Most women in the Upper West Region, particularly the Nadowli District would persistently resort to delivering at home despite the interventions put forward by the government in the area of maternal health.

However this in some measure contributes to high maternal mortality rate in the Upper West Region.

This came to light at the launch of the Safe Motherhood Week organized in Nadowli.

The District Director of Health Service Florence Angsomwine, revealed that the Region recorded thirteen maternal deaths last year and sixteen deaths from January to June with Nadowli district recording five fatalities.

She advised women to take advantage of the interventions made available by government on maternal health to address the sorry problem in the district and the region at large.
