The East Gonja District Assembly in the Northern Region has built two new basic schools and rehabilitated five others to enhance education enrolment in the district.

Speaking to Ghanadistricts about the provision of social amenities in the district the Presiding Member for the Assembly Hon. Mohammed Jakpa hinted that the move is to make basic education attractive so as to give the beneficiaries a bright start for a better future.


In addition according to him, two six unit classroom blocks and one three unit classroom structure have also been provided for the Jantong and its surrounding communities adding that plans are far afoot to replicate these projects in other communities in the districts.

Hon. Jakpa further revealed that teacher’s quarters will soon be constructed to entice teachers to the communities.

To make administration of the area effective, an area council block for the Kpemba electoral area has been put up, while all unit committee members have had the nod to commence work following their inauguration.

The assembly block is also under renovation to enhance the administration of the district.

The presiding member stated that the district assembly is waging a relentless war on insanitary conditions in the whole of the district to insulate her from diseases associated with poor condition.

As a first measure to sanitize the various communities in the district, the first day of every month has been set aside for the general cleaning of the whole of the district.

This he said will involve all and sundry and therefore called on everyone in the district to be part of the exercise in other to rid the district of filth.
