Residents of Hilltop electoral area in the Tamale Metropolis are calling on NADMO to as a matter of urgency come to their aid with some relief items to alleviate their suffering handed them by the recent floods .

In some areas within the vicinity, walls were pulled down by the sheer force behind the running water making flooding in most homes a common sight.

Affected residents have to seek refuge at the homes of relatives and loved ones whiles others moved to high lands to avoid the raging waters that rose to an appreciably dangerous level.

Narrating the ordeal of his electorates to Ghanadistricts .com in an exclusive interview, the assembly member for the area Hon. Yusuf Yahaya blamed the disaster on the poor physical infrastructure of the area.’ Drainage is either poor or none existing; the few ones available are choked with filth making it almost impossible for sewerage water to run through.

Primary schools, numbering about five and other structures including over twenty homes could not be accessed due to rising water levels.

Areas such as filling station, Tamale polytechnic and Estate were the worse hit as both vehicular and human movement became impossible.

The clearly worried assembly member appealed to NADMO and concern philanthropists to come to the aid of the affected individuals.
