The lawra District Assembly is considering engaging the services of students in its attempt to improve upon their local revenue mobilization.

This is in response to the call by the local government Minister for assemblies to support developmental programs in their respective districts through locally generated funds.

This was disclosed by the DCE for Lawra Sampson Abu at the on-going mid-year review program for MMDCE’s from the northern zone in Kumasi.

He said students on holidays could serve on commission bases as they could also earn some money for their education and other things they are interested in.

He assured that he will personally take active interest in revenue collection in his districts since that will serve as a motivation for the tax collectors and payers as well.

He noted that the district assembly common fund is meager and cannot be enough as the only source of funding for the various infrastructure deficits confronting the assemblies in the country.
