ICT equipment for MMDAs in the north

Some selected Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the three regions in the north; Upper East, Upper West and Northern Regions have been provided with Information Communication Technology (ICT) facilities.

This was at the review conference of MMDCEs in the northern zone at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.


Presenting the items, the Deputy Local Government Minister, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah said the equipments were the collaborative efforts of the Local Government and Rural Development Ministry and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to ensure the assemblies are involved in proper planning processes as well as ensure they go about other administrative works effectively and efficiently.

He indicated that these facilities are very important in every aspect of the administration process if the assemblies want to survive in the technological era.

The Deputy Minister advised the beneficiary assemblies to take proper care of the equipments and also do regular maintenance to prolong their lifespan.

Samson Abu, Lawra District Chief Executive who received the items on behalf of his colleagues, assured that the equipments will be used wisely and for the intended purpose.

Beneficiary assemblies include Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, Bole, Karaga, Mamprusi East, Zabzugu/ Tatale, Nanumba East Districts and the Economic Planning Unit-Bolga in the Northern Region; Bolgatanga,Wa Municipal, Lawra, Sissala East in the Upper West Region; and Bawku West, Kassena Nankana and Economic Planning Unit all in the Upper East Region.
