The Deputy Northern Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Haruna Iddrisu, has called on the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to apologise to the chiefs and people of Dagbon for their inability to honour their campaign promise of finding the killers of the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Yakubu Andani 11.
In a release signed by him, the party expressed disappointment about the fact that “the much talk about tape the NDC claimed they have regarding the death of the Overlord of Dagbon is no where to be found because the NDC is now saying that the tape is not arguable in court as evidence”.
“The NDC told the chiefs and people of Dagbon that the NPP masterminded the killing of the Ya-Na and that they have a video recording of the event; they also promised as part of their manifesto to find the killers and establish a Presidential Commission to go into the matter but none of these has happened” the release alleged.
It noted that those promises by the NDC played “on the emotional keyboard of some chiefs and people of Dagbon and thus voted for the party massively in the 2008 general elections thereby NPP losing in Dagbon”.
According to the release,” for almost three years now, the NDC has not been able to establish the Presidential Commission neither has it been able to establish those who killed the late Overlord of Dagbon”.
“Those who were arrested unlawfully but later freed by the court need to be compensated; while the NDC must also render an apology to all Ghanaians because of their propaganda and false statements” the release further pointed out.
It entreated the people of Dagbon, who believed in the tradition of the NPP, to come back to the party just like Professor Wayo Seini did because the NPP is about to make history in the 2012 general elections.
