Schools’ receive free uniform and exercise books

About 5,042 free school uniforms and 159,486 exercise books have been distributed to schools in the Bawku West District.

This is the second of such exercise in two years. The first exercise saw the distribution 3,309 free school uniforms, 20,425 exercise books and 500 dual desks


The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Imoro Adam Anaba, who presented the items which also included 1,000 dual desks, said the district has received enormous educational benefit from the government.

The move, he said, is in fulfillment of government’s promise in the 2008 election to provide educational materials to deprived schools in the country.

Mr Anaba mentioned the construction of a five-number six-unit classroom blocks, Six-number three unit classroom blocks, three-number three unit classroom blocks, one-number nine unit classroom block and one unit teachers’ quarters with boreholes.

The DCE said the construction of the schools at the deprived areas in the district would help to reduce the burden and tiredness associated with school children commuting long distances to attend schools.

He called on the Education Directorate and parents to up their supervisory role on the schools and pupils to boost educational standard in the area, and assured that government will continue to improve on interventions on education in order to realize its goal on education.

Mr Paul Apanga, District Director of Education, who received the materials on behalf of the schools expressed gratitude and said the items will go a long way to improve education in the area.
