The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), is installing three mechanised boreholes to pump water to Yendi in March 2011, to end the frequent water shortages that afflicts the more than 75,000 residents.

Mr Ziblim said the project was being sponsored by the GWCL through its Internal Generated Fund as a short term measure.

He said Bank Hapoalim from Israel was funding the provision of pipe line to be connected to River Oti, to supply pipe borne Water to Yendi, which is 25 Kilometres away as a long term measure.

A member of the board, Alhaji Adam Yakubu Mahama Baba Ibrahimah, expressed the satisfaction of members about the project.

The Yendi Municipal Chief Executive Mr Issah Zakaria appealed to Bank Hapoalin to hook communities along River Oti to benefit from the water project.

In a related development, Zabzugu/Tatale District Chief Executive, Mr Umar Abdul Wahab has appealed to the Water Ministry to connect the district to the River Oti project, since the area is only 10 Kilometres away.

He said currently Zabzugu township is connected to a dam as its source of water.
