One more person has been pronounced dead after he was reportedly stabbed during the Bugum festival in Tamale on Thursday.

The victim known as Abass Haruna, believed to be a member of the Azorka Boys - a vigilante group with sympathies for the ruling National Democratic Congress, died Friday morning after he was allegedly stabbed at the Tamale Central Mosque area on Thursday.

The death follows the death of another man identified as Alhassan Bawa whose attempt to test his magical prowess failed when he allegedly stabbed himself on Thursday.

According to Joy News’ correspondent, Mahama Shaibu, four other people sustained gunshot wounds and are currently being treated at the Tamale Teaching Hospital. Among the injured is a third-year student of the Tamale polytechnic, Zakariah Mohammed who was shot in the face.

Mahama Shaibu however, reports that even though there was massive security presence at the celebrations, people could be seen brandishing sophisticated guns with impunity and going through security check points with cheeky ease.

Nurses attending to the injured at the Tamale Teaching Hospital have since confirmed that the conditions of the victims are stable.
