Staff of the Bole Senior High School (BOSEC) have undertone a three-day comprehensive training in Information Technology.

The training sought to introduce the teachers’ to the basics of 1CT and to build their capacity to apply ICT to improve both academic and non-academic work in the school.

The teaching of KTT in BOSEC had been faced with many challenges, key among them being the unavailability of the requisite facilities and the lack of capacity of some staff to apply ICT.

The training was therefore, considered as a major step towards this gap.

At the opening of the training workshop, the Bole District Director of Education, Mr Mumeen Alhassan, noted that even though it was beneficial to undertake the training, "a one-off training programme was not enough to learn everything in ICT".

He said the communication world was so vast that one had to be in touch with the computer all the time to practise and learn more.

Mr Alhassan mentioned that the assembly was collaborating with some organisations to sell computers to teachers and other interested workers on hire purchase and thus implored the trainees to take advantage of the opportunity.

The Headmaster of BOSEC, Mr. Daniel Kpebu mentioned that efforts were underway to stock the computer labo-ratory with various accessories to facilitate the teaching and learning of ICT.

Currently, he said, they ’ were managing with few computers and this was impeding the teaching of ICT.

Mr Kpebu entreated the participants to take the training seriously since it would not only help them in their academic work, but assist them in their personal lives.

The course coordinators, Messrs Edmond Nyarko-Nkrumah and Felix Seidu Jinapor, also tasked the participants to explore ICT further and use it to their benefit.

According to them, the world had gradually become a global village and ICT offered unique opportunity for them to keep in touch with the global community.
