Action-Aid Ghana, a Non Government Organization (NGO) has donated GH¢ 2000 to the Dakpema Education Endowment Fund that seeks to support needy but brilliant pupils in Tamale to acquire high academic laurels.
The donation was made in fulfillment of a pledge made by Action-Aid Ghana’s country Director Madam Adwoa Kluvitse during her official visit to the northern region.
Mr. Saani Yakubu, Northern Sector Programme Manager of Action-Aid Ghana made the donation and promised that more of such assistance was yet to follow suit.
He said the organization will continue to support progressive and development oriented chiefs in the region and appealed to residents of Tamale to sustain peace in the area.
Mr. Saani reiterated Action-Aid Ghana’s commitment to improving the quality of education in less endowed communities and called on all stakeholders in the education sector to have a common agenda.
He said Action-Aid as part of activities marking its 20th Anniversary this year has well tailored programmes for the youth among which includes debate and quiz competitions.
These activities in the estimation of the northern sector Programme Manager of Action-Aid Ghana will create a platform for students to test their academic excellence on wide range of topical issues.
Naa Dakpema Dawuni Alhassan commended Action-Aid Ghana for its contribution to the socio-economic development of the entire northern region and pledged his support to help the organization succeed in its development drive.
He appealed to other well meaning organizations and philanthropists to contribute their quota towards the development of brilliant but needy students in Tamale by donating to the Dakpema Education Endowment Fund.
Action-Aid Ghana started its operations in 1990 and has been pre-occupied with working in underserved communities in Ghana to build the capacity of the marginalized.
It is a non profit making organization which is dedicated to ending the extreme poverty in underserved communities and its mission is to eradicate poverty and injustices in Ghana.
