Renewed clashes in Bunkprugu Yunyoo leaves 2 people dead

Renewed clashes between two ethnic groups in the Bunkprugu Yunyoo district of the Northern Region has led to the death of two people.

According to an Accra based radio station, Citi FM, the clashes started early Wednesday April 21, between the Kombatiac and Bakuni ethnic groups resulting in the deaths of the two persons.


The deceased persons are Kamkam Biono, 32 and Kusankui Budik, 90. According to reports one of the dead person’s arm and manhood was chopped off.

The bodies of the two victims have been deposited at a local hospital in the municipality.

Six police men on duty at Kombatiac fled to a nearby town called Mamba after the combatants turned their anger on them.

The two ethnic groups early in 2010 were engaged in a turf war which led to the torching of over 27 houses.

It is reported that no arrest have so far been made.

The police in the area have increased their security and investigations have commenced.
