Communities faced with water problems in the Bunkpurugu Yunyoo District in the Northern Region are to benefit from a seven year Northern Region Small Town Water and Sanitation (NORST) project.

The project is aimed at increasing access to potable water and sanitation in the various communities, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Hajia Mavis Bawa said.

She said the assembly with the assistance of NORST office in Tamale has prepared a three-year work plan and budget which has been approved by the executive committee.

Hon. Bawa said the projects, being funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) when completed will increase the capacity of the stakeholders at all levels especially at the district and sub-district to effectively fulfill their respective roles in the delivery of potable water and sanitation services.

She therefore appealed to chiefs and the citizens to give support and offer the necessary cooperation for timely and successful execution of the projects.
