The delegation by Gonja custom presented a calabash of kola nuts and a letter inviting former President Kufuor to the final funeral rites.

Mr. Mohammed Mumuni Cassious, Chairman of Gonjaland Association and spokesperson said the Traditional Council recognized the cordial relationship between former President Kufuor and the late Yagbonwura.

Former President Kufuor praised the late Yagbonwura for his efforts as one of the three Eminent Chiefs that mediated in the Dagbon conflict.

He noted that despite his age, the Yagbonwura worked to ensure there was peace in Dagbon and the entire Northern Region.

Former President Kufuor said the late Yagbonwura was like a father to him and recalled that even before he was elected President whenever he traveled up north the deceased welcomed him nicely.

“The late Yagbonwura was a good chieftain and would be remembered for his contribution towards development in the traditional area,” he added.
