The Executive Director for the Global Mission for the Needy, a non-governmental organisation, Madam Veronica Zenabu, has appealed to the government to resource schools especially the deprived ones with reading and learning materials.
She said without learning materials students could not be well educated to take up challenging and leadership positions in society.
Madam Zenabu said this at Tamale when she donated books worth GH¢4,000 to the Islamic Senior High School and the Northern School of Business.
She said her NGO attached importance to education and health needs of the people in its operational areas with Agape Samaritan International of USA as its major donors.
Madam Zenabu said the NGO had been providing women groups with micro credits to establish small businesses to enable them support their husbands in educating their children.
She said education had become too expensive for the government alone to bear and stakeholders should complement government’s efforts at delivering quality education to the people.
Alhaji Abdulai Haruna Friday, the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, said in a speech read for him that the government was working to make education accessible and affordable to all.
He commended Global Mission for the Needy for its efforts at complementing the development of the country.
