Dagbon Honours GNASBA Chairman

Kampakuya-Naa Abudulai Andani, the regent of Dagbon traditional area on behalf of the chiefs and people of Yendi traditional area, has presented a special royal smock to the National Chairman on the Ghana National Scholarship Beneficiaries Association (GNASBA), Mr Baffour Akwasi Oppong, for his contribution towards promotion of environmental and sanitation education in schools and communities countrywide.

The award ceremony took place at the Gbewa Palace at Yendi at the formal launching of GNASBA Schools Environmental Sanitation education campaign for the Northern Region and the presentation of 68 litter bins for 20 senior high schools and junior high schools at Yendi.

The ceremony was witnessed by the Gnani-Dana Zakari, a traditional ruler, Mr Akwasi Attuah, the sales and marketing manager of Fan Milk Limited; Mr M.A. Azongo, the Municipal Coordinating Director; Mr Kwame Aidoo, the Regional Sales Manager (North), Fan Milk Limited, directors of the Ghana Education Service, Yendi, sub chiefs and many others

Presenting the royal white smock to Mr Oppong, Kampakuya-Naa Abudulai Andani noted that one of the important national issues that deserved critical attention to ensure a healthy nation for sustainable development was proper waste management practices.

He stressed the need to nurture and encourage the youth to observe the by-laws of environmental sanitation.

Mr Oppong thanked the chiefs and people of Yendi for appreciating his campaign and honouring him for it.

He dedicated the award to Fan Milk Limited and Newmont Ghana and Gold Limited for their support for him in his campaign to promote general clean-up exercises, tree planting and educational rallies in schools and communities countrywide.

He announced the main problem of the association and appealed for assistance in that direction.
