Following yesterday’s political clash between two opposing youth groups of the ruling National Democratic Congress in Tamale, Naa-Dakpema Mahamadu Dawuni, the Chief of Tamale is calling for the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.
Describing the unfortunate incident as a violation of his peace advocacy mission, Naa-Dakpema said he will be highly disappointed if the government fails to arrest the perpetrators because of their political affiliation.
Naa-Dakpema Dawuni vented his frustration at his palace on April 27 at a news conference where he re-iterated the need for all stakeholders to join his embarked upon crusade towards eradicating any form of the culture of impunity in the metropolis.
As a unifier, a peace maker and a visionary leader, the Tamale Chief ordered the security apparatus to uncover the modus operandi of some miscreants who are attempting to make Tamale ungovernable in the name of politics and chieftaincy matters.
Naa-Dakpema Mahamadu Dawuni also warned opinion leaders in Tamale to desist from lobbying the security to release perpetrators of various crimes when apprehended by the authorized agencies responsible for maintaining law and order in the entire region.
Before today’s news conference at the Dakpema palace, I understand there was a similar attempt made by some chiefs and Imams to reconcile leaders of the feuding factions at the Residence of the Regional Coordinating Council.
An insider hinted that the said attempt failed because one Alhaji Ibrahim Adam who was at the receiving end of the attack refused to see eye to eye with Alhaji Sumani Zakariah and demanded that the full rigours of the law must be applied to serve as a deterrent to others who are harbouring such evil plans.
