The Chairman of the Northern Presbytery, The Rev. Dr Martin Bugri Nabo has cut the sod for the construction of a GH¢750 000 six-classroom Senior High School block at Bamvim a community near Tamale.

The Oikonomos Foundation, a Dutch NGO based in the Netherlands provided the financial assistance to the Northern Presbytery for the project and the community members and school management are to contribute labour and other inputs to enable the school to move from the old site, which lacked space for expansion.

The Country Representative of Oikonomos Foundation, Mr. Kaleb Yakubu speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony said education was paramount in his outfit’s assistance area hence the need to help put up the infrastructure.

He urged management of the school to ensure that the project was completed on schedule to move students from the old site to enhance academic work.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Anthony Bakutomah expressed appreciation to Oikonomos Foundation for the assistance and gave the assurance that the project would be completed on schedule.

He said residents of Bamvim would now have the opportunity to have secondary education at their doorstep and appealed to community members to cultivate the habit sending their children to school.

Rev. Dr Martin Bugri Nabo, chairman of the Northern Presbytery who cut the sod advised teachers and management of the school to continue to instill discipline and Christian values in the children to ensure that the school turned out quality children.

He expressed the hope that the church would solicit more funds to develop and expand infrastructure at the Bamvim site for it to enroll more students to improve education in the Tamale Metropolis.
