The Scheme Manager of the Savelugu/Naton Mutual Health Insurance Scheme, Mr, Abdulai Zakaria Sharijey, has expressed concerned about the clients’ lukewarm attitude towards the renewal of their expired identity cards.
According to him, many of them rush to renew their expired ID cards only when they are sick and about to visit hospitals.
"More often than not’they come to the scheme with either sick people to renew their cards or go straight to the health facilities to quarrel with nurses." he complained.
Mr. Sharijey was addressing board members and other stakeholders of the scheme at the first annual general meeting of the scheme in Savelugu.
He urged patients to always renew their identity card and not wait untill they are ill, stressing that such attitudes put a lot of pressure on both staff of the scheme and service providers.
On the payment of claims, the scheme manager indicated that the scheme always reimbursed service providers promptly saying over 04 billion had been paid service providers this year.
Mr. Sharijey mentioned that service providers have been so pleased about prompt payment of claims and commended the management for that, adding that as a result of this, many people from Tamale and surrounding communities have subscribed to the Savelugu/Naton Scheme.
He mentioned that the scheme had gen¬erated about five billion locally this year.
He however appealed to the assembly to provide the scheme with a building for the scheme.
