MP accounts for her stewardship

The Member of Parliament for Builsa North, Mrs. Agnes Asangalisa Chigabatia, has over the years spent her share of the MPs’ Common Fund on projects to improve the socio-economic conditions of the people in her constituency.

Last year for instance, she spent over GH¢ 16,000 to buy food items and clothing to assist victims of the flood disaster in her constituency and also helped some communities with building materials at the cost of GH¢ 38, 000.00.

Mrs. Chigabatia said this when she met the Builsa community in Tamale on Saturday to account for her stewardship and also canvass for their votes for her to be retained in parliament.

She said during her stewardship she also extended the National Electricity Grid to 17 communities including Sandema, Chuchuliga, Wiaga, Kadema and Siniensi.

She provided 50 sewing machines for vocational training centers in Wiaga, Sandema, Kadema, while 10 computers and their accessories were acquired at the cost of GH¢ 70,000.00 to open Information Communication Technology (ICT) centres in Sandema and Wiaga.

The Builsa North MP bought six grinding mills to assist six women’s groups in Chuchuliga, Wiaga and Siniensi at the cost of GH¢ 90,000.00, bought six wheel chairs for the disabled in the communities and assisted them with 10 bags of cement and roofing sheets for the rehabilitation of their recreational centre.

She bought 85 sets of jerseys and footballs for various communities and schools to promote sports in the district.

She donated three trophies at the cost of GH¢ 185, 000.00 to the Wiaga and Chuchuliga assemblies to be competed for by the schools in the district.

In the area of sanitation, Mrs. Chigabatia said she assisted some communities with GH¢ 200, 000.00 to pay for the construction of boreholes projects in their areas.

In the health sector, she said she supplied hospital beds valued at GH¢ 100.000.00 out of the HIPC funds to the Sandema Hospital and the Wiaga Clinic and additionally supplied some laboratory equipments to the two health facilities.

She bought text books for junior high schools in the district and donated television sets to the Sandema, Wiaga and Chuchuliga senior high schools.

Mrs. Chigabatia said she ensured that solar energy lightening sets were bought and installed in six rural schools in the district at the cost of GH¢ 48, 000.00.
