Kampakuya Na
In the wake of the recent disturbances at Gushegu in the Northern Region which resulted in the murder of Naangi-Lana Ziblim Abukari, Prince of Gushegu, the Regent of Dagbon Kampakuya-Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani has asked government to apprehend and punish the perpetrators.

He said the disturbances are evidence that the perpetrators have taken advantage of the culture of impunity that exists to visit mayhem on innocent citizens of Dagbon.

He called to mind the murder of his own father Ya-na Yakubu Andani II in 2002, saying that it was the same murderers who were on the loose once again since they knew they could get away with it.

He therefore urged government to pursue and apprehend the murders of his father, Ya-Naa Andani Yakubu II who was killed in cold blood on 27th March, 2002. "But if they fail to do so, I can assure them that those murderers that are now being encouraged would turn their lethal weapons on them and the rest of the country sooner or later," he said.

In a statement issued from the Gbewaa palace the regent alleged, by failing to apprehend the murderers the security agencies must have been conspiring with them, the consequences of which, he warned, is anybody's guess. "If the security agencies that are to protect us are in conspiracy with lawless elements to maim and kill innocent men, women and children, then who would be to blame for the breakdown of law and order?"

As a result of the acts of lawlessness, he noted, Gushegu has become a ghost town as people cannot go about their day to day activities uninterrupted.

The King stated that he was not in doubt that the architects of the murder of the King of Dagbon, Ya-Na Andani Yakubu II are the same wicked minds behind the death of Naangi-Lana Ziblim Abukari. And not having been punished for their wicked deeds, they have gone on rampage once again and only God knows who will be their next target. "We are all at the mercy of this evil forces and I am humbly urging the security agencies to prick their own conscience and come to the aid of the innocent citizens of Gushegu," he said. He called on the police to do any thing possible to apprehend the culprits of these heinous crimes in order to end the culture of impunity and restore law and order in Dagbon.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Tamale, Alhaji Naa Abdulai Ziblim has warned the security agencies that the Andani Royal Family has had enough and will not back and watch others take undue advantage of them. The regent who spoke to the media following the murder of another member of the Andani gate said it is clear there is a political agenda against his family.

He stated that his brother was not a politician but was chased and shot several times and beheaded by the said wicked elements in Gushegu.

He warned that since it is clear now that there is no protection for some section of the public they were ready to protect themselves.
