Five Schools to be Rehabilitated

The Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Development Authority, Mr Martin Eson-Benjamin has announced that 400 new school blocks would be constructed under the Millennium Challenge Account.

He made the announcement at a sod cutting ceremony for the rehabilitation of the Jangori Kujuo Basic School in the Savelugu/Nanton District.


The school is one of five other schools,including Tampion, Savelugu Experimental Kindergarten, Diare Rashidiya,and Zoggu Primary Schools to be rehabilitated in the district.

The new schools, he said would have standard facilities that will crate an enabling atmosphere for quality teaching and learning in the beneficiary communities.

Mr Eson-Benjamin stated that many teachers refuse postings to deprived areas of country due to lack of basic amenities.

Deputy District Director of Education, Moses Akintogu,expressed concern about the lack of maintenance culture in the country resulting in the collapse of many government institutions including schools.
