Tamale Hospital
Doctors at the Tamale Teaching Hospital have finally amputated the right leg of the 22 year old girl, Wasilatu Baba, one of the 62 National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters who were involved in a fatal accident in Tamale.

The girl, who apparently went through physical and psychological trauma as a result of the accident that also claimed the life of her younger sister, was taken through a thorough medical examination.

Wasilatu Baba, resident of Lamashegu in Haruna Iddrisu's Tamale South Constituency, lost her younger sister, Alhassan Suweibatu 18, who died on the spot in the accident.

Though the late Suweibatu presumably wanted to be the first to see or shake hands with the NDC running mate, John Dramani Mahama in his first official visit to Tamale, she rather shook the cold hands of death. The deceased elder sister, Wasilatu whose leg was severed, is now in her sick bed grieving over her sister's death as well as her predicament.

The Chronicle's visit to the Hospital on Monday morning revealed that one other victim, a 40 year old Mahama Fuseini, a.k.a Tamale Doo, had also been listed for amputation of his right leg.

This accident, though not the first of its kind in the Tamale metropolis, has raised concerns among some residents of Tamale over the total disregard of traffic regulations, especially during political activities.

The Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu was met at the Hospital with the gory sight of the accident victims, when he went to visit them. Some of the Health officers hinted that the MP had been very concerned and consistent at the hospital, since the accident happened.

At the moment, about 48 of the victims are believed to have been discharged from the Hospital, with about 14 severely injured still hospitalised.
