ZOOMLION Ghana Limited, a private waste management company, under its "Assembly Vehicle Plant Project," has provided the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, a sanitation truck.

The truck, with a public address system mounted on it, is to be used by the Assembly to address the sanitation problems of the area.

The vehicle, valued at$19,500, was given to the Assembly on hire purchase Basis, payment of which is to ae completed within a period of five years, through a monthly instalment of GHc325.

Presenting the truck in Bolgatanga, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Zoom- lion, Mr Oscar Provencal, said the project was on a pilot basis and was meant to provide the necessary logistics for the Assemblies to help in waste management.

He said in addition to providing GHc200 for public education, his outfit would be responsible for servicing, repairs and maintenance cost of the vehicle.

Mr Provencal added that the Assembly would only be responsible for the payment of the driver’s salary and the fuelling of the truck.

He stated that as waste management was very challenging, there was the need to put proper systems in place to be able to deal with
it effectively.

"In this regard, Zoomlion is in the process of getting its own landfill site for proper waste disposal," the PRO stated.

He urged the Assembly to open a special account by which all proceeds from the truck would be lodged and managed by a committee.

The Upper gast Regional Minister, Mr Alhassan Samari, who received the truck on behalf of the Assembly, commended Zoomlion for the good work it was doing in the country.

He said Zoomlion was offering the Assembly an opportunity to fully participate in waste management, adding that the success of the
project would depend on how best it managed the truck.

Mr Samari tasked the Assembly to make the municipality clean by abiding by the agreement with Zoomlion on the prompt payment of its monthly obligations.
