The Deputy Northern Regional Minister, Mohammed Amin Anta, has assured government’s preparedness to make agriculture lucrative in the region. In this regard, government has allocated 20 billion cedis to be disbursed in the form of loan to farmers who will go into cowpea and Soya bean cultivation in the region. The loan will however be paid back after harvesting the produce.
The Deputy Minister announced this at a meeting with the Tamale Central Women’s Wing of the NPP to thank the members for the support they offered him in the last December elections. He stressed that, the money will not be disbursed to only NPP members, but to farmers, especially youth who will go into Soya bean and cowpea cultivation. Mr. Amin called on all stakeholders to help ensure a lasting peace in the region to pave way for development.

According to him government spends huge sums of money every month to maintain security personnel in the region, due to the Dagbon crisis, adding that, these money could be channeled into health and educational infrastructure development. Mr. Amin, therefore appealed to wives to advise their husbands, siblings and their children to foster unity and let peace prevail in their communities. The Tamale Central Constituency Women Organiser, Ayisha Dimong, in a speech read on her behalf advised members of women group to do away with issues that divide their ranks and rather focus on issues that foster unity and love among them. Madam Dimong appealed for financial assistance to women and the youth in the area to expand their business or start a new one.
