Mr Salifu Saeed, District Chief Executive (DCE), for Nanumba North District, has called on the youth to go about the electioneering campaign in the forthcoming general elections in a peaceful manner, devoid of insults and violence.
Mr Saeed said, "we are all fighting for the good of the nation, we might belong to different political parties, but our ultimate aim is to see Ghana on top and this we could only do in a peaceful manner"
In an interview with the GNA in Tamale , the DCE said there was the need for Ghana to maintain her enviable record as a pacesetter for democracy on the continent, saying; "this is another testing time for us all to prove to the entire world that we are truly peace loving people".
Mr Saeed deplored the huge amounts being used for conflict resolution and peace making in some parts of the country and said such monies could be used for more urgent development projects.
On the issue of building peace in his area, the DCE said his outfit on daily basis initiates projects to explain to the people the need for them to leave in harmony irrespective of ones political, religious or tribal affiliation.
He said the entire nation would lose if the forthcoming electioneering campaign were not done in a manner that would promote peace and tolerance.
Mr Saeed called on all stakeholders “to contribute in one way or the other” to ensure peace before, during and after the December elections.
