The Member of Parliament for Gushiegu, Madam Rita Tani Iddi, has donated 20 bicycles, a motorcycle, a laptop all valued at GH¢ 7,000 and an amount of GH¢ 3,200 to her constituency.

Making the donation during the celebration of Ghana’s 51st independence anniversary at Gushiegu on Thursday, Madam Iddi, who is also the Deputy Minister of Lands, Forestry and Mines, said the bicycles and the motorcycle were incentives for selected teachers serving in the remote parts of the constituency.

The laptop, she said was for the Gushiegu District Hospital while the money should be used to support water projects in the district.

Madam Iddi announced the completion of an ultra-modern hospital at Gushiegu, which she said would be commissioned by President John Agyekum Kufuor soon to enable the people to get access to quality health care.

The Deputy Minister commended the people for giving the contractors the needed peace to execute the project within a record time.

"You made me so proud. You could not have done better. I have no doubt that this hospital would be successful", she said.

She however appealed to them to help provide accommodation to workers, who would soon be posted to the hospital, to make them feel at home.

On education, the MP urged the parents to give the best of education to their children, saying: "Education is the best legacy a parent can bequeath to the child".

Mr. Mahama Abukari the District Chief Executive commended Madam Iddi for her immense contribution to the development of the area.

He announced that the district was now enjoying the services of the Metro Mass Transport and urged the people to patronise the bus.

He said the government had offered to tar 15 kilometres of road in the District and to extend electricity to a number of communities including Limo Zinido, Kpaligu, Galwei and Gaa.
