An 800 million cedi 15-room girls’ dormitory block for the Tempane Senior High School has been put up by the Garu-Tempane District Assembly and the Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) of the School.
The provision of the facility is aimed at strengthening, monitoring and and effective supervision of the students on campus and to enhance teaching and learning in the school.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Sin-Nyet Asigri who was speaking at the inauguration, said the assembly and the Regional Coordinating Council in consultation with the Ghana Education Service, will upgrade the school which is the only public second cycle day school in the area into a boarding status.
According to him the assembly would put up a permanent boys’ dormitory to accommodate all the students on campus to boost their academic work.
Mr. Asigri said the assembly has taken delivery of mattresses and beds to furnish the dormitory to provide comfort for the occupants.
“Since we are not only interested in where the students would lay their heads, we have also started the construction of a 350 million cedi library complex for the school”. He added.
On his part, the District Director of Education, Zongo-Naa Dorma advised the students to nurture the practice of maintenance in order to prolong the life span of the building for posterity.
The Girls’ Prefect, Miss Anatu Sugana commended the assembly and the PTA for constructing the dormitory block and appealed for more support to improve their academic work.
