Daffiama and Nadowli both communities in the Nadowli District are currently benefiting from the Small Towns Water project.
The ¢4.2 billion project which is meant to supply water in the various communities in the district was financed with the HIPC fund with support from the World Bank.
In an interview with the District’s Planning Officer, Mr Mohammed Majeed , he disclosed that a sum of ¢100 million has been released to two women farmer groups in the district.
According to him, the money would be used by the women to facilitate farming activities in the area.
He also pointed out that it was a loan facility provided by the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs to be refunded at a low interest rate of about 19 per cent.
Mr Majeed said the district assembly has handed over two nurses quarters to the Community Health Planning Systems at Nator and Sampena.
Additionally, the assembly has completed a six classroom block with additional facilities such as a teachers conference room and stores at Ombo.
Furthermore a four semi-detached teachers quarters has been built at Moyire.Mr Majeed also pointed out that a workshop was recently completed at the Youth Leadership Training Institute.
