The West Gonja District Assembly has received items including ICT equipment from the UN Development Programme.

The UNDP Project Co-ordinator for the Millennium Development Goals, Nicholas Amponsah said the donation is to help strengthen the existing relationship between the UNDP and the District.

He urged the District Assembly to take good care of the equipment to enable them to serve the purpose for which they were intended.

The District Chief Executive, Janet Jarubia Alhassan said the donation is timely, since the district can not afford to be left out in the global scene, where computers are the prime tools for transacting business.

On promoting gender equality and women empowerment, the DCE announced that the West Gonja recorded the highest number of elected females to the District Assembly last year.

Madam Alhassan, said the District Assembly has procured ten grinding mills for distribution to women groups in the community.

This intervention, she noted is aimed at empowering women economically to reduce poverty and hunger in the district.
