Eight people died on the spot and 28 others sustained various degrees of injuries when a cargo truck in which they were travelling from Nakpali to Zabzugu was involved in an accident on Monday. The injured are receiving treatment in Yendi.

The District Chief Executive of Zabugu Tatale, Alhaji Yakubu Bukari, who visited the accident scene, advised drivers against overspeeding and overloading which he said, could be the cause of the accident.

Drivers in the area should be mindful of the nature of the road and stop overspeeding in order to avoid unnecessary accidents in the district, he said.

He lamented over the numerous lives lost in the area through careless driving by drivers and asked passengers to report drivers who misbehave on the road to the police for appropriate action to be taken against them.
