The Parent/Teacher Association of the Anbariya Islamic Institute, in collaboration with the Old Students Association, on Saturday handed over a block of nine classrooms to the institute in Tamale.
The project, valued at 620 million cedis, was put-up with contributions from parents and old students and other fundraising activities.
Three out of the nine classrooms would be used for nursery while the junior secondary school would occupy the remaining six rooms. At the function the institute also took delivery of a 10 million-cedi borehole for which the Rotary Club of Monitowoc Wisconsin in USA provided the money through the Carter Centre in Tamale. Speaking at the forum Madam Alexandra Sopeneh, the Tamale Metropolitan Director of Education, commended the complementary efforts of the PTAs and Old Students Association of the Institute. She urged parents to take keen interest in the education of their children, especially the girl-child, to empower them economically to contribute their quota to the development of the country. Mr. Inusah Fuseini, the Member of Parliament for Tamale South, presented Islamic reading books donated by the Saudi Embassy to the institute.
