The District Chief Executive of the West Gonja District Assembly Ms. Jambia Alhasan has said that the composition of the Assembly satisfies the requirement of the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) which demands that 30 per cent of the members of the Assembly should be females.

She at a meeting with the Assembly Members at Damango in the Northern region. The 31-member Assembly is made up of 13 females of which eight were elected and 18 males.

The Deputy Upper West Regional Minister Mr. G.H. Benson urged the members to be hard working and dedicated to rapid development of the district. He reminded them that working with the Assembly was purely voluntary and that they must be ready to sacrifice in achieving the overall purpose of their being put in office.

The Assembly however failed to elect a presiding member after two rounds of balloting by members.
