The West African Trade Hub has selected six companies from a pool of 30 to participate in trade exhibitions in the United States.
The companies, which are based in Ghana, Mali, Senegal, Guinea, Burkina Faso and Benin, are said to possess high export capability of shea products including cosmetics, natural remedy drugs and hair products among others. The West African Trade Hub is currently training representatives of the selected companies in Accra.
The training would give them first hand information on the U.S market to enable them to package their products according to required specifications.
Export Business Development Director of the West Africa Trade Hub, Vanessa Adams told Joy business report that emphasis would be placed on promoting corporate trade relations with dealers in shea products in the US.
Miss Adams said shea butter from West Africa is gaining in popularity in the American market and the trade show in March 2005 would offer another opportunity for the product to be highlighted.
