The Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Hon Iddrisu Mariam has advised motorist and road users to take road signs and traffic regulations serious to avoid needless accidents on the roads.

According to her, most of the carnage on our roads is as a result of negligence and carelessness from road users, adding that, respecting road signs can save more lives on the roads.

She urged the youth to wear a crash helmet and obey traffic regulations to save lives, stressing that, wearing crash helmet protect the head from injuring when an accident occurs.

The participation of Mariam Iddrisu, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sagnarigu in the Northern Region in the United Nations’ World Urban Forum (WUF 9) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, appears to be paying off.

The MCE, who shared her practical experience in community connect programmes that she undertook in the Sagnarigu Municipality and their success stories for the participants, was able to market her municipality, which was carved out of Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, to the investing community in Malaysia and beyond.

One person on Tuesday dawn died following a fire outbreak at Kpalsi, a community in the Sagnarigu District of the Northern region. The deceased, identified as Ibrahim Sultan, a computer seller, was said to be sleeping in his room when the fire started at about 3:50 a.m.

The Assistant Chief Fire Officer in the Northern Region, Mr. Godwin Damalie, who confirmed the incident to Graphic Online in an interview said the deceased has been sent to the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

Members of the Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly in the Northern region are livid over a purported transfer of the Coordinating Director of the assembly, Andrews Mensah.

At a press conference organized by Sub-committee Chairpersons and addressed by the Presiding Member (PM) of the assembly, Alhaji Mohammed Awal, the aggrieved members accused the Local Government Services Secretariat of unprofessional conduct in the transfer of Mr Mensah who is barely four months in office.
